Overview of Program:

Full Cycle Takeout (FCT) is a project of Zero Waste Oʻahu, a local 501(c)3 non-profit. Full Cycle Takeout is Oʻahu’s first reusable takeout container program. We are working with (6) restaurants in Haleʻiwa and select food-service partners to incorporate reusables in takeout, meal delivery, and event dining in order to minimize single-use waste.

Summary of Position:

The Reusables Coordinator is key to making this program happen! This position is responsible for collecting, transporting, and cleaning the reusables. The Coordinator is also responsible for keeping track of inventory, monitoring program quality, and delivering containers to restaurant and event partners as needed. The activities take place primarily in Haleʻiwa and require some early mornings.

In addition to day-to-day program operations, the Coordinator will work alongside the FCT Operations Manager to develop and manage the program. These duties may include: creating outreach materials, partner engagement, conducting surveys, creating guidance documents, and other administrative tasks.  This position will be responsible for managing the program’s Instagram account.

Job Duties:

Program Operations

  • As needed (2 to 4 times each week)

    • Collect, was, dry, and redistribute (or store) containers 

    • Count and record the stored and distributed containers in the inventory management system 

    • Clean return bins and internal compartments 

  • Assist with organizing the stored containers and metrics collection

  • Create materials for customer, community, and restaurant education 

  • Co-create community engagement events

  • Assist in the development of operations best practices 

  • Coordinate with restaurant and event partners

Social Media responsibilities

  • Create at least (2) pieces of content each week

  • Manage the social media calendar 

  • Follow social media posting frameworks (i.e. templates, branding, writing style)

  • Respond to outreach on Instagram

  • Host monthly social media meetings to invite feedback and ideas from the rest of the team

Time Commitment:

  • This a part-time, temporary position

  • 10 - 17 hours/week 

  • Position through October 1, 2022 (with possibility for extension)

  • Schedule is flexible with (1) required weekly team meeting and 2-4 days/week of collection and washing (which must be finished by 10:00 am)

Location and Travel:

  • This is not a remote position and most work duties will take place in Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu

  • Some travel beyond the Haleʻiwa project site will be required to deliver or pick up containers to event partners and attend team meetings

  • Administrative and social media work can be completed remotely 

Compensation and Management:

  • The Coordinator will be an employee of Zero Waste Oʻahu and will report to the FCT Program Manager and Executive Director of Zero Waste Oʻahu

  •  Compensation is $16.00/hour for up to 17 hours/week

  • Professionalism when engaging community and restaurant partners 

  • Have experience with or willing to learn how to use a commercial dish-washing machine

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

  • Must be able to ride an electric bicycle with a hitched trailer

  • Must have access to a personal vehicle

  • The best fit for this position will be someone who lives in or near Haleʻiwa and is grounded in the community
