Honolulu’s Disposable Food Ware Ordinance 19-30 (aka Bill 40)
Bill 40 Passed! Now, special interests are stalling the Law from taking effect.
What can you do?
Ordinance 19-30 (formerly Bill 40), which phases out single-use plastic in the Oʻahu food service sector over a span of two years, should have started in January 2021. However, some large businesses have been working hard to stall the implementation of the law, which has now been pushed back to April 2021. You can read our full press release here to learn more about what is going on.
Next, here are two actions you can take to help make sure our leadership remember how important this law is to our community.
ACTION 1: Sign on to our open letter asking our leadership to make sure there are no further delays or industry wide exemptions.
ACTION 2: Business Letter Sign-On. Let our city government know that as a member of our business community you support seeing this ordinance rolled out in April—with no more delays.
